Stab, Fl�che, K�rper und Raum sind die Basiselemente des Entwurfsprozesses. Jede noch so komplexe Gestalt kann als deren Variation verstanden werden. Und jedem konkreten Entwurf liegt eine Gestaltungsmethodik zugrunde, die als Transformation dieser vier Kategorien analysierbar, lehrbar und erlernbar ist.
Transformation stellt in diesem Sinn ein Grundlagenwerk f�r Architekten, Designer sowie kulturgeschichtlich interessierte Laien dar: die konkurrenzlose Grammatik des Entwerfens. Es entfaltet in systematischer Absicht und mit fortschreitender Komplexit�t das kreative Anregungspotential dieser Kategorien: in konzentrierten Texten und einheitlichen Zeichnungen sowie anhand von vielf�ltigen Beispielen aus Architektur, Design und Kunst.
Transformation nimmt aber auch durch seine Gestaltung und Ausstattung einen au�ergew�hnlichen Rang als Buchobjekt ein: Das Layout erzeugt eine hohe Vergleich- und Kombinierbarkeit der verschiedenen Gestaltungsschritte, und die separate Bindung einzelner Seitenteile potenziert deren freie Kombinierbarkeit. So entsteht eine Art Baukasten, mit dem der Leser ebenso spielen wie forschen kann. Indem er neue "Links" generiert, entdeckt er mit einer begrenzten Anzahl von Basis-Elementen immer wieder neue und unbegrenzte M�glichkeiten der Gestaltung.
