96pp. Octavo [23 cm] Black pebbled cloth with the title gilt stamped on the front board. Color lithograph frontispiece present. About very good. Minor wear to boards. Stamp on front pastedown. In the 1880s citrus was the dominant crop in Southern California, and this important monograph by Lelong, who was the Secretary of the California Board of Agriculture, was well-received by growers on its release and is considered a classic. In this work Lelong describes the best times for picking, curing, packing, grafting, etc. He also offers a brief history of the arrival of the orange to California. Zamorano Select 65.
