In 1960 a "German Forestry Mission" was engaged in inventory work in Liberia. Mr Gunther Kunkel worked with the mission as forest botanist from summer 1961 to spring 1963, and this book represents report No. 3 of the German Forestry Mission. It is based on the firsthand knowledge of the country's forest flora which the author obtained during this period. The major phyto-geographic features of the country are briefly described as an introduction to the check list of ninety commercially useful and fifty other species which had been recorded in the forest inventory. The botanic, vernacular and trade names of each species are supplemented with brief notes on the more important field characteristics, with line drawings and a field identification key for the recorded species. The book is bound in the original blue-green cloth covered boards with yellow titling on the spine and front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear and light soiling to the boards and light bumping to the top corners. The contents are tight and clean with some light foxing on the fore edge of the first dozen or so pages and some soiling to the back of the title-page and following page. There is also foxing to the rear endpapers and the top, fore and bottom edges of the front fixed endpaper. There is no inscription.…
