Item description from seller

174, [2] pages. Illustration. Notes. Selected Bibliography. Index. Edward Bernard Glick received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida and spent the bulk of his career at Temple University where his last title was Professor Emeritus of Political Science. Early in his career he specialized in civil-military relations, the politics of national defense and Latin American affairs. Later he also addressed Middle East issues. He was fluent in Hebrew and Yiddish and visited Israel frequently. He was a Research Assistant to Israel's United Nations Delegation and was Director of the Commission on International Affairs at the American-Jewish Congress. The triangular connections describes the relations between two countries, the United States and Israel, and an ethnic group--Jews living in the United States. This relationship was seen as one of the principal reasons for America's continued support for the state of Israel in the face of unrelenting Arab opposition. The first part of the book adopts a largely historical approach from British Colonial times until 1949, the year in which Israel was admitted to the United Nations. It details the reasons for America's support of Israel in the past. The second part of the book is a largely topical approach on some of the difficult aspects of the American-Israeli-Jewish equation. Regardless of where any reader stands on Zionism, the Palestinians, the Arab-Israeli conflict, or America's role in the Middle East, readers will find this a readable, exciting and provocative book. First Published in 1982 [stated]. Presumed first printing.
