4to. Full calf, rebacked, the spine lettered in gilt on panels of red and brown. Marbled page edges. Old calf covers rubbed and worn at edges, a clean very good copy otherwise. Bookplate of Malcolm Stuart Farmer on the inner front cover; ownership signature of "R.H.W. Whitehurst / 1803" on front end paper. Also an ownership signature: "Robert Furnese / 1713" on the upper title page. What look like two signatures erased from the title, and the author identified in pen beneath the title. The license leaf with engraved Arms of James R. is present. This copy of the variety having "Thomas Newcomb" in the imprint, and not having "Sam. Lowndes" in the imprint. Wing S-5065A and S-5029A, respectively. [No leaf Dd2 in the second work, and the page numbers are "103" and "106" on leaf Dd. This leaf is absent in all copies examined. In the Second Edition of 1685 there is likewise no leaf Dd2, but the page numbers on leaf Dd are "103" and "104". Also, the Second Edition contains a small folding plan of Rye House, not issued in the First Edition.].
