12mo, original printed pale green wrappers, stitched as issued, 24 pages. Publishers' advertisements on the rear wrapper. An essay on courtesy addressed by an anonymous author to his cousin, "The Hon. Henry H." who apparently had written a popular novel which received "large circulation" and many public responses, some of which may not have have been kind, to which Sir John Courteous counsels his cousin: "Be wise, be courteous." The only direct literary reference the author makes is to Dickens' Household Words. A few slight stains; fine copy. OCLC and Library Hub record the same later printing dated 1855 at BL.
