About the Author

The author, Dr. Anthony J. Salatino, a native of New York State, came to Appalachia in the early 1960s as Academic Dean of Alice Lloyd College, Pippa Passes, Kentucky. His background is extensive and diverse. He has served as a University professor and administrator, worked for a major publishing house, and served as CEO for a nonprofit organization. Dr. Salatino is an award-winning author of the book Will Appalachia Finally Overcome Poverty?. His great concern for the people of Appalachia led him to accept the invitation to write this biography of Father Beiting, whom he has admired for giving so much of himself to improve the lives of others.
