This is an impressive, consecutive set of the renowned author's last seven novels, published between 1953 and 1960, among which are his best known works such as The Far Country. Shute draws on his experience of both Europe and Australia, as well as his technical background, to produce these well-written and riveting stories. The Far Country (1952) book very good; boards very fresh and clean; a slight amount of foxing to top edge; some yellowing to pastedown. Jacket is very good with some loss to spine top and lesser so to bottom. In the Wet (1953) book very good, some tanning to edges; jacket near fine with only very small nibbles to spine extremities. Requiem for a Wren (1955) book very good, slight hint of foxing to block edges; jacket very good Beyond the Black Stump (1956): book very good. Some discolouration to endpapers (free jacket area), boards very bright. Jacket good, some loss to spine top. On the Beach (1957): book near fine, just some slight discolouration to text block edges; jacket very good - a little bumping to top edge and spine corner wear. The Rainbow and the Rose (1958): book good, page edges tanned; jacket good, rear a little grubby, spine sunned, losses to both spine extremities.
