Bound in 6s. 7-9/16" x 4-1/2" Published in January 1837, this collection of 10 tales has as the lead & title contribution Dickens' story, which first appeared in the British "Library of Fiction" [April, 1836]. Spine sunned. Ex-lib, with quaint 19th C. book label to front paste-down & circular stamp to ffep & t.p. right margin. Gutter break prior to p. 5. Some foxing. Withal, a respectable VG copy. Original red linen cloth over drab paper wrapped boards & printed paper title label to spine 1st US edition (Gimbel B1; Smith AMERICAN, pp. 7-8; Wilkins, p. 11). Printed in an edition of 1000cc.
