Two volumes. Volume I: vi, (ii), 360pp. (1879); Volume II: Pp. 361-706 (1879). Volumes are uniformly bound in original red cloth, with bright gilt lettering to spines. Each volume contains a small, lovely bookseller stamp from the well known firm of Sadlier. Overall, the volumes are very nicely preserved and sit nicely on a shelf. Wear includes a number of small bumps to extremities, with light to medium wear and light soiling in places, including several small worn through areas and spots to cloth. The front cover of volume 2 admits to some heavier wear. Volumes admit to fairly heavy foxing to mosty early and late leaves and edges. Some leaves are uncut. A pencil note to upper corner of front free endpaper and a couple of other, and a couple of other discreet pencil marks, with light soiling to endpapers. That some leaves are uncut is an indication that the books spent most of their time on a shelf, rarely being used. Again, this is, overall, a nicely preserved copy of this very scarce set.
