Published in January 1918, this is two rare surviving examples of The Mudhook The Journal of the 63rd Royal Naval Division, which was a satirical journal of prose and verse intended to entertain the troops, it now serves as a primary source of ?Trench Literature?. The magazine is printed in thin cheap paper measuring 9.5 inches tall approx and runs to 17 printed sides, and the other issue 14 printed sides.

CONDITION
The front cover is missing from the July 1918 issue, which has noticeable browning and creasing The October 1918 issue is in a very poor state, heavy creasing and browning, significant loss to some pages, taped repairs, lacks the rear cover, Also loose is the front cover of a third copy, the number 7 issue.

The 63rd (Royal Naval) Division was a unique unit of the British Army composed initially of Royal Navy and Royal Marine reservists who were not required for sea service. Originally known as the Royal Naval Division (RND), it was transferred to the War Office and redesignated as the 63rd Division in July 1916. The division fought in major campaigns including Gallipoli and on the Western Front, where it earned a reputation for undertaking demanding operations.
