About this Item
Octavo, c. 1910, First Edition. Attractive decorated cloth boards-dark olive green with impressed illustration in black of 'A Band of Tibetan Minstrels' to front (drawn from the b/w photograph on page 21), with lime green backdrop - the same colour being employed to enhance the floral design to spine panel. Additional gilt titles to front and spine. Externally, this copy is unusually bright and clean, with minimal only rubbing and bubbling to cloth. A very thin vertical line/crease is evident centre of spine, from meeting of two principal sections of binding. Prize label from the Presbytery of Blairgowrie to ffep (1911), awarded to a Miss Bella Calder by the Sabbath School. Eps and adjoining leaves browned and foxed - otherwise the contents are complete and relatively free from foxing, but age-browned at margins, and with various small grubby marks and creases from handling. Though predominantly well-bound, there is some minor incipient straining/tearing at binding near centre of book, and some related uneveness in page block fore-edge. 160pp + 32pp Catalogue of S.W. Partridge's Popular Illustrated Books. All plates present and correct. A copy that is complete, without major faults, but possibly having more to recommend it on the outside than within. PLEASE SEE FIVE ACCOMPANYING IMAGES. FREE p&p within the U.K. Shipping outside U.K. will incur appropriate additional postage, as agreed with the purchaser.
