This is the memoir of author Richard Henry Dana Jr., published in 1849, written after his two year voyage from Boston to California on a merchant ship starting in 1834. This volume is in excellent condition, blue cloth with beautiful illustrations throughout the book. The binding is very solid, no markings anywhere. This copy was published in 1911. There is a message written on the front page to William B. Newbegin from "Margaral" wishing him a Merry Christmas, 1911. This copyright edition includes a supplement by the author and introduction and additional chapter by his son. One photograph of Richard is added to the introduction and the page is loose.
