"Costley went on to write the books 'SICILICONIA' (Beehive Press, 1995), 'Terrazzo' (Malfunction Press, 1993), 'Aysha' (Ghost Dance Press, 1988), and 'Ragaas' (Ghost Dance Press, 1978); and had already written 'KNOSH I CIR' (Ghost Dance Press, 1968) at the time of this poem's drafting. Special collections at UConn now holds Costley's papers. This typescript comes from the library of the radical queer poet Charles Shively, who was the editor of 'Fag Rag,' a Whitman scholar, and a notorious activist in the Boston area. Shively taught at Boston College while Costley was an MFA student there. The attached poem of Costley's was found in a book Shively owned.".
