The first edition, the 32mo format, being the smallest of the three issued.Complete in two volumes.A fascinating work by J. Johnson exploring the history of printing, with insights into the process of the industry.Illustrated with an engraved title page to Volume I, a frontispiece and one plate to Volume I, and the occasional in-text engraving.Collated, lacking the engraved title and one plate to Volume II.Bookplate of D. B. Anderson to the front paste downs. In a modern full crushed morocco binding. Externally, smart, with only a few light marks. Minor bumping to the extremities. Bookplate to the front paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean with some light occasional spots. Frontispiece of Volume I is adhered to the verso of the front endpaper. Tide mark to the tail of the engraved title page and frontispiece of Volume I, with a repair to the gutter. Volume II lacking the engraved title and one plate. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 875P9
