JOHN MELISH, who distinguished himself in the second decade of the 19th Century as a map maker on equal footing with those of London and Paris, initiated in 1817 the project of an Atlas to complement his large wall maps. His untimely death precluded its completion and this map is one of his finer achievements. Published in 1820, with full original hand color, this map is much sought after by collectors.
