Synopsis
This book is for all angling methods, in salt water or fresh. Many of the big, hard-fighting fish are saltwater species, and much of the ultralight action is in salt water, but not all of it. Bluegill, bass, trout, pickerel, carp, and crappie are far more exciting to fight on ultralight tackle, and you'll get more strikes too. Moving from fresh to coastal waters, bluefish, jacks, and yellowtail will test your skill and gear to the limit. And yes, you can take large, powerful gamefish such as sailfish and shark on ultralight tackle.
In addition to covering the essential and advanced techniques for landing world-record fish, the author includes a brief history of ultralight angling and chapters on how to choose and maintain your gear, including line, reels, rods, hooks, and lures; how to find and attract fish; how to safely handle and release the fish you catch; how to find and use bait; how to select the best boat to enhance your sport; how to separate fact from fiction when buying a sounder; and a section on gadgets that emphasizes equipment you can make at home.
