First edition fifth impression stated on the front flap of the dustjacket, of a near fine hardcover with minor foxing to the textblock and a small blemish to the front pastedown, in a very good dustjacket with wear to the extremities, a bit of loss on the front cover at the top and foxing to both the front and rear flaps. Written just before the author died, published posthumously in 1954, the story of a day in the life of a small Welsh fishing village. It was first read in the U.S. in 1953 with Dylan Thomas as part of the cast. It was a BBC radio drama in 1954, 1963 and 2003, a BBC TV show in 1957, 1964 and 2014, and was the basis for the 1972 film of the same name starring Richard Burton.
