© 1970: A collection of 7 short stories that are a part of the 'Instrumentality Of Mankind' series of books. 1st edition, 1st printing. Edited & with an introduction by Anthony Cheetham:- Contents: The Game Of Rat And Dragon / On The Sand Planet / Under Old Earth / Alpha Ralpha Boulevard / The Ballad Of Lost C'mell / The Crime And The Glory Of Commander Suzdal / A Planet Named Shayol:- Synopsis: A cosmos of beauty and terror on the far side of time. The universe you will explore in these stories by a famous science fiction author is surely one of the most colourful and weird ever conceived. Untold millennia in the future, a thousand planets throughout the galaxy acknowledge one ruler - the Instrumentality of Mankind. Giant planoforming ships travel the hazardous spaceways. Men and women genetically 'built' from animals do civilizations labour - and plot in secret, planning revolution. But the hell-planet of Shayol with its bizarre torments awaits those who rebel against the dictatorial yoke of the Instrumentality:- Review(s): "Cordwainer Smith's vision and talent represent something unique in the field of imaginative SF" / "His style is rich and sharp, his moods and images are exciting, and the physical things he describes often seem to take on metaphysical perspective. His people are lonely figures, archetypal, who inhabit haunting spacescapes that mingle horror and beauty =- Romantic, in the best sense. He has everything that is admired in Ray Bradbury and much more depth, scope and intellectual direction" - New Worlds- (original cost 5' (£0.25)).…

Terms of sale
All books offered for sale are complete and sound (any missing / loose pages or cracked / broken spines will be mentioned in the book description). Our book-seller images are of, not just the listed edition / print, but also of the actual book you will be buying (the cover collages are made from 3 individual scans of each book that are then displayed as a wrap-around image - the books themselves are NOT damaged in any way by this process). Book sizes, where given, are to the nearest ¼". Each book has then been graded according to its condition, taking into account the degree of creasing to the covers and/or spine, presence of scuff marks or tears, any pen marks or inscriptions & any page tanning. We try to be as fair & accurate as possible with the grading of our books, but if you are unhappy with any classification of condition please let us know as soon as possible. If, for any reason at all, you are unhappy with your purchase, we offer a no quibble, money back guarantee within 30 days of purchase. We also welcome any feedback or comments that you may have as we are always trying to maintain our high levels of customer service.
