Item description from seller

From the personal library of Morton H. Smith, prominent Presbyterian minister, theologian, and author, known for his significant contributions to the founding of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Smith's name and address is written in pencil on the front flyleaf, as well as his personal ex-libre stamp is present within the endpapers. Bound in beige publisher's cloth, covers are plain with dark green lettering on the spine. Contents include: Prophecy According to the Critics; Prophecy According to the Bible; The Unity of the Book of Isaiah; The Prophecies Regarding Cyrus; The Prophetical Poem Celebrating the Transcendence of the Lord God of Israel; The SErvant of the Lord; Who is the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53?; and The Basic Issue. Also contains appendix. Indexed. 134 pp. Fold out chart at the back. CONDITION: Moderate shelfware with several small white discoloration spots. Leaves have lightly toned. This copy is significantly underlined and annotated throughout. While we can not say the markings are definitely Morton H. Smith's, it is likely they are his, with the handwriting throughout appearing similar to his name written on the front flyleaf and his ownership stamps within the front endpapers. Hinges are strong and the binding is sound. Full refund if not satisfied.

Store description

Since 2005, Shelley and Son Books has been passionate about books, and preserving their importance for current and future generations. We believe that virtue and beauty have a close relationship. By reading we gain knowledge. In knowledge we find things that inform our choices and beliefs. Therefore, as booksellers, we see that books have an aesthetic value and a heuristic value. We specialize in The Inklings, primarily "The Seven'": C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Dorothy Sayers, G. K. Chesterton, George MacDonald, Owen Barfield and Charles Williams. A sub-specialty is our significant collection of Christian Theology. But you'll also find works across the centuries, first editions, signed copies, and even modern books, too, across a broad selection of categories and genres. Customer service is of utmost importance to us, and our friendly staff is always happy to help. We assure our clients books of quality, as each copy is carefully graded and shipped with care. Located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, we can be found on Main Street in Hendersonville, North Carolina, (just south of Asheville). We are primarily an online bookstore, but we invite you to make an appointment for an on-site visit! Shelley and Son Books is owned by Stan Shelley.
