The Text Block is clean, soft white, tight, straight and square with red topstain and no markings of any kind. The Binding is Toledano Style 8 with full blue cloth boards, spine lightly sunned, with Rockwell Kent torchbearer image within gold outline to the front board enclosing a smaller square label in red with title and author in gilt, design repeated on the spine, with gilt faded, unmarked gray torchbearer endpapers, and corners lightly bumped. No Jacket. [vi], 316, [vi] pages. 5" x 7 1/8". New Foreword by the author and ML catalogue at rear of book. Inspired by the dark days following the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, the author wrote this historical novel about George Washington in 1776 from his defeat in New York, to the dark days of winter at Valley Forge, his Crossing the Delaware, and the triumph in the Battle of Trenton.
