4to; Contents clean and secure in original green cloth binding with gilt lettering at spine, some minor blemished to cloth, but quite nice condition. Many full page illustrations, including reproductions of x-ray images. "Prepared under the direction of Surgeon-General George M. Sternberg, United States Army. Borden was "Captain and Assistant Surgeon, U. S. Army." Borden documents the pioneering use of the Rontgen Ray, a very early version of the modern X-Ray machine, on injured soldiers during the Spanish-American War.
