Folio, publisher's original black cloth, the upper cover and spine lettered in silver and the upper cover also pictorially decorated with a large silver coffee server. 293, 4 ads. pp. A handsome and very well preserved copy. A VAST RESOURCE TO EXPLORE SILVER VALUES AND DESCRIPTIONS, LAVISHLY ILLUSTRATED. The work discusses fraudulent and tampered pieces, altered hallmarks, converted pieces, hints to collectors, makers' marks, ways to descibe old silver and Sheffield plate, values, the use of auctions and a host of other advice related issues. There is a great deal on hall marks and examples of silver sold at auction and in the marketplace. The illustrations are extensive with many, many examples in many categories being presented.
