This first edition was published during the Jubilee year of 1575 and immediately became one of the most important works on the subject and was published in many editions over the next two centuries making first editions, like the one presented here, scarce and sought after. Etienne Duperac (Stefano Duperac or Du Perac, c. 1535 - 1604) was a French architect, designer, painter, engraver, and cartographer. A versatile artist of the second half of the sixteenth century, he was a scholar of antiquity and an etcher and designer of gardens.
