Blue blind-stamped cloth binding with gilt lettering and gilt card-spread design around front cover lettering. Tissue guard but this appears to be protecting t.p. rather than a missing frontispiece, t.p. semi-circular card spread with yellow and red colouring as appropriate, xv+72, numerous similarly coloured ills of card spreads; heraldic bookplate (Paget Mosley 'Mos Legem Regit') to front pastedown, 1870 dated signature to facing end-paper, brown mark down most of outer edge of end-gutters; although clean bar light edge-tanning many pages and gatherings have become disbound, so requires skilled conservation attention; covers clean but extremities and joints all a little rubbed, as is the surface in places. The illustrations are numbered by the text 'case' (or example) to which they refer and are thus not continuous. Despite the faults this remains a quite attractive book, with no main web-site matches at tme of listing so presumably rare. Seller Inventory # 012158
