First edition. ONE OF ONLY 100 COPIES. First appearance of Jeffers' poem written two years after his wife Una s death in 1950 [Broomfield A76]. Printed by Ward Ritchie at his Laguna Verde Press at the behest of the Jeffers sons, Donnan and Garth, as a fundraiser for the Tor House Foundation. 4to hand-sewn marbled paperwraps with stylized "R J" initials on label mounted to front. Near fine with slight bend to upper inch. Understandably scarce. ALSO INCLUDES A PROSPECTUS of sorts, being "An Appeal" from Robert Brophy requesting funds for the "Tor House Foundation" in which he describes the publication and the poem, promising donors of $200 or more a copy (near fine with small offset from rusted staple to upper left corner and a little wrinkling along top edge). AS WELL AS "Ward Ritchie and Robinson Jeffers," a checklist of the works by or about Jeffers published by Ritchie. (8vo single leaf folded to make 4 pages including covers; issued on the occasion of his lecture at California State University, Long Beach, April 23, 1979. Fine.). Seller Inventory # 55496
