First impressions of the true first editions of Companion Volume II, Parts 1,2 & 3 - published in 1969: a complete three-volume set of the companion volumes to "Winston S. Churchill, Young Statesman (1901-1914)" Volume II of the official biography. All three companion volumes are first impressions of the true first editions, with the contents to all three parts to the fore of Part 1. ***Each volume is very good in red cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spines. The boards are clean and unmarked. Top edges of text-blocks stained dark red by the publisher. Extremities of boards slightly rubbed. Head and tails of spine slightly rubbed and nicked. Internally also very good with no inscriptions. Pages clean. Spines tight. ***Each volume in a very good colour printed dustwrapper, with decorative coats of arms to the front panels of the dustwrappers, and olive titles to the front panel of Part 1, burgundy titles to Part 2, and red titles to Part 3. Red and burgundy titles on the spines of the dustwrappers of Parts 2 & 3 are slightly faded. Dustwrapper of Part 1 has not been price-clipped, showing the original publisher's printed price for the three volumes of £10 10s net. Dustwrappers of Parts 2 & 3 are price-clipped. Heads and tails and extremities of dustwrappers very slightly creased and rubbed, with a very small closed tear to the bottom of the spine of Part 3. Dustwrappers slightly discoloured from age and handling [being a white background]. No chips or tears. Dustwrappers bright. ***Part 1: 675 pages.
