Fore-edge margin of another leaf - pages 429/430 - with V-shaped tear of sides 3cm, within which paper crumpled and with some loss at apex slightly affecting page numbers. One leaf - pages 391/392 - uncut and oversize at fore- & lower edges of lower outer corner - across which a number of untidy-ish creases affecting just single words on final line of text on both sides, and leaving light crease impressions on a few preceding & following leaves. Plate V a little toned, lightly & very sparsely spotted, and a little dust- & handling-marked in margins. Verso of Plate I a little toned, all plate versos faintly dust- and/or handling-marked. Contents otherwise occasionally faintly toned and/or lightly dust- & handling-marked, with occasional minor spotting or isolated spots, with a few corner creases confined to margins and a few creased and/or furled corner tips, and with minor loss confined to a few margins. Edges of text-block red-speckled; top edge deeply darkened, other edges a little toned and lightly handling-marked. Contemporary full calf. Hinges rubbed; rear split from head to foot, along which a little loss of hide, and front partly split. Board surfaces and edges a little rubbed, front board with cluster of darkened shallow indentations and light scratchmarks within panel; moderate wear at outer corners. Endpapers split along hinges, and faintly & patchily toned. Front endpapers with one or two minor handling marks, two isolated spots, and in old hand:- "/O" on pastedown, owner's initials or monogram "AB" on both pastedown and flyleaf, and owner's name as at title-page on flyleaf.
