Churchill's highly subjective history of the First World War was published in five volumes (six books) written over eight years. Initial volumes were first published in the U.S. (by a matter of days), making the American edition the true first edition. This is the rather rare First Canadian edition set, without dust jackets. The edition was bound from First American edition sheets and resembles the First American edition in all respects. Each volume was only printed once. The books are in very good condition. The cloth remains vivid, the gilt titles bright, the spines largely unfaded, the contents fine and unfoxed. VOLUME I (Book 1) has a faint cup stain on the front face and has faded a bit more prominently along the spine, as per usual with this volume. VOLUME II (Book 2) is lightly scratched on the rear face. VOLUME III: Part 1 has a gentle front hinge break. VOLUME IV: THE AFTERMATH (Book 5) has scattered discoloration to what is otherwise vibrantly bright cloth. Else fine.A set very rarely seen, in exceptional condition overall. 8vo (5 volumes in 6 books. 2500+ pages, with folding maps and plans.) (Cohen A69.3) (Woods A31aa). Seller Inventory # 144323
