The second installment in a proposed four volume set examining the life and legend of Wyatt Earp (1848-1929), the larger than life gunman who made a name for himself in the wild frontiers in and around Tombstone, Arizona. This part examines the chaotic landscape of Tombstone prior to the Earps' arrival. Includes a chapter on the first lawmen of Tombstone, discussion of Wyatt Earp's relationship with Wells, Fargo & Company, and an account of the year that the Arizona Territory was part of the Confederacy. Established in 1981, johnson rare books & archives is located at The Book Shop in downtown Covina, about 20 miles east of Los Angeles. The shop is open six days a week and houses an inventory of some 30,000 titles, ranging from the general second-hand to the truly antiquarian.
