Hardcover, full brown cloth, as pictured. Shows some wear, some insect nibbling - mostly to the spine, corners lightly rubbed & bumped, name/address stamp to each endsheet & flyleaf - see note following; a few page corners creased. Text clean; vii, blank, 563 pages + 16 pages publisher's list; index, equations, figures. Bears the stamp of Herbert T. Hills of Salt Lake City on each endsheet, and on the flyleaf, with the ink name & sign of his son Louis. The elder Hills was an early graduate of the University of Utah's engineering department who worked for the US Surveyor General before meeting his death in 1905 at the age of 29 in a freak accident: he picked up a steel surveying tape which was in contact with a live wire bringing current to a disused mine and was instantly electrocuted.
