Item description from seller

First edition, first printing. Fine, fresh, unread copy in equally fine dust jacket. hardcover. 232 pp. illustrated with color and black and white photos. Autobiography. Football icon Joe Namath provides the story of his life from his boyhood days with his family in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, his high school athletic stardom (he was offered $50,000 bonus money in his senior year to sign with the major league baseball Chicago Cubs) and his decision to attend Alabama to play football under Bear Bryant. Interwoven throughout are flashbacks to his start of his pro career with the 1965 New York Jets and his first knee surgery, and memories of the iconic Super Bowl III upset win over the Baltimore Colts (after an offhand trying to shut up a heckler that he "guaranteed" a win). Then for "Broadway Joe" there was the championship ring, the pantyhose commercials, glitzy parties, women he just couldn't turn down; there were also the torn hamstrings, broken browns, multiple knee surgeries, and weekly shots of mysterious drugs to ease the constant pain. By his last year in pro football, sprinting any distance of the field was a crapshoot. An entertaining book filled with inside anecdotes.
