1st ed., first issue (black cloth spine) folio, pictorial boards, pp.(vi), 7-79, 12 tipped-in plates of which 9 are colour and 3 black & white by Elizabeth Durack with pictorial endpapers also by same artist. Previous owner's bookplate (Allan Mummery designed by Florence Broadhurst) and small bookseller ticket (Alberts Bookshop, Perth W.A.) front endpaper. Closed tear (repaired) to edge of p. 21. Edges rubbed, corners restored, some light fraying at head and foot of cloth spine, chipping along edges of rear board. Internally all text and plates clean and bright. Very good condition. Scarce first edition, first issue with the black (not green) cloth spine. Lavishly illustrated, much-loved Australian children's story of Nungaree and Jungaree, whose baby brother is stolen by Here-and-There, the Whirlwind. Text by Mary Durack and illustrated by her sister, Elizabeth Durack, with beautiful tipped-in colour plates and text sketches. Seller Inventory # 104189
