About the Author
Praise for the work of T.S. Stribling
“Outstanding, combining adventure, mystery, suspense, fine dialog, biting satire, philosophic asides and frequent wit. . . .”—Sam Moskowitz on “The Green Splotches”
Thomas Sigismund Stribling (1881-1965) penned many short works for the periodicals of his day—adventure, satirical, boys adventure, detective and science fiction—running in Everybody's, The Century Magazine, Holland's Magazine, Youth's Companion, American Boy and Adventure among others.
He is also well remembered for his series of detective stories featuring psychologist sleuth Doctor Poggioli, published in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine and The Saint.
The short story form could not corral the ambitious T.S. Stribling who won the 1933 Pulizer Prize for the Novel for The Store.

Store description
Uncle Hugo's started in 1974 and Uncle Edgar's in 1980 in different store fronts. Both stores moved into a much larger location in 1984. Rioters burned that location to the ground on May 30, 2020, wiping out over $1 million in books. In August, 2022 we reopened a new brick-and-mortar store at 2716 E. 31st St., about 2 miles east of our old location.
