Captain Dave Boslaugh spent most of his 30-year Navy career introducing digital technology to naval warfare systems. In 1962, Boslaugh was assigned to the Bureau of Ships' Naval Tactical Data System Project, the first Navy system to use digital computers aboard ship. Later, as director of naval telecommunications research and development in the Naval Electronic Systems Command, he blended digital technology with naval tactical communications systems. In his final Navy posting, as director of the Navy's Tactical Embedded Computer Program Office, Boslaugh was in charge of developing standard tactical digital equipment, support software, and computer programming practices for all weapon system automation projects throughout the Navy.
