Cheryl Gomez-Preston is one of the few women in the United States who have taken a sexual harassment case to court and gone through the legal system successfully. In 1987 she was awarded a $1.2 million settlement in one of the largest sexual harassment verdicts ever handed down. As a result, she is committed to helping others who may be victims of this supposedly nonviolent crime.
In 1988 Cheryl Gomez-Preston founded the Association for the Sexually Harassed, a nonprofit organization through which she counsels and educates not only victims, but also corporations and universities, and men as well as women.
