Karl Detzer (1891 - 1987) was an American journalist and free-lance writer who began his career in Fort Wayne, IN and expanded into script writing for radio, tv and movies, pulp magazines, "Reader's Digest", etc. He eventually moved to Leland, Michigan where his family had long had a summer cottage, and bought the Leelanau Enterprise newspaper after World War II. This book, written in an engaging style, gives a glimpse of his life as a boy at around the turn of the 20th century in Fort Wayne and recounts some of the early history as revealed by his interactions with old time residents. Original red cloth publisher's covers with gilt spine lettering. There is a previous owner blindstamp at the bottom edge of the half title page and a very small bookshop sticker at the top corner of the first blank free end paper, else This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates.
