Another in a series of mid-20th-century mystery & adventure books published by Goldsmith for YA/middle school readers. One of only a few books written by this real-life railroad engineer, this one features "red-headed fighting Irishman Jerry Twyman & his adventures on a Western railroad," in 252 pages. This is a FIRST EDITION, First Printing from 1936. With red cloth over boards decorated & lettered in black to front & spine, it is in VG+ condition: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Pages heavily tanned, commensurate with age & paper quality, but completely unmarked save for a gift inscription in pen from 1938 to ffep. Just a hint of bumping to corners & spine tips. The lightly clipped DJ is VG: colorful & bright, with small chips & rubbing to extremities, light soil & rubbing; nicely preserved in new clear mylar cover.
