Item description from seller

First Edition. Original cloth, near very fine, with the red on spine perfect, usual off setting on the inside hinges from glue off-setting. The letter "A" on the copyright page indicating first edition. No bookplates, no signature, no writing. The dust jacket is in near fine condition with the original price intact on the front flap, the front panel is unusually bright with a small crease at the bottom left, the rear panel is the first issue without the photographer's name, there is a small closed tear at the bottom, and some slight offsetting at the bottom corner. The spine of the jacket has some fading and ther is minimal wear to crown and foot of spine, with a tiny chip at the foot. This book seems to be, of all of Hemingway's first edition, one of the most difficult to find in collectible condition. this is due to the fragility of the dust jacket, the size of the book, the tempermental colors which are susceptible to fading, and the black coloring of the background which shows the lightest of nicks and scratches. Overall, a most acceptable and above average copy. The dust jacket is in a archival protector. Housed in a custom-made slipcase for further protection.
