Add to basketFirst Edition in the First State dust jacket of Ernest Hemingway's classic novel set during the Spanish Civil War. American Robert Jordan, a member of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, ventures behind Nationalist lines on a dangerous mission in support of the crumbling Republic. 471 pages, cloth. (First Edition with the A present on the copyright page and the 1940 date on the title page. First State dust jacket with the $2.75 original price intact on the front flap and the absence of a credit line for the photographer with the photo of Hemingway on the back cover of the dust jacket. The book has a previous owner bookplate on the front pastedown page and tanning of the page edges. The dust jacket has chips at the top and bottom of the spine. At the bottom of the front cover of the jacket, there is a 3" by 1" section in the first part of Hemingway's last name that has been torn loose and that rests somewhat awkwardly within the protective cover in which we've housed the jacket.
