Wild Pilgrimage - Lynd Ward First Edition, Harrison Smith & Robert Haas 1932 Ward's third wordless novel in wood engravings alternates between fantasy and reality illustrated by orange and black ink respectively. The work explores themes of freedom versus the responsibility of the individual towards society. The work culminates in a workers' revolt led by the protagonist, reminiscent of Frans Masereel's work. Red cloth with illustrated paper labels to front cover and spine, pp. [202] VG+ book in a VG jacket with a chip to the tail of the rear panel, some minor chipping to spine ends and fore-edge corners, small closed tear to rear flap tail, moderate soil.
