William and the Masked Ranger

In the title story, William becomes fascinated by a thrilling Western film and inevitably attempts to bring some of its excitement into everyday life. Elsewhere, the Outlaws embark on summer holiday adventures, become involved with a donkey, attempt to deal with Douglas's unwelcome interest in a girl, and encounter the bewildering world of modern art. Across six stories, William's imagination, misplaced confidence and determination to interfere in adult affairs produce the familiar mixture of confusion, mischief and unintended consequences.
