Windows into Literacy centres on the assesment of various aspects of students reading and writing: students' metacognition, attitudes and interests, language systems and strategies, comprehension and composition, and development of emergent abilities.
Nancy L. Shanklin is an associate professor in Language, Literacy, and Culture at the University of Colorado at Denver. Nancy is formerly a secondary English teacher who continues to work closely with teachers and children in schools. She teaches graduate courses at the university and conducts research on literacy instruction and assessment.LYNN K. RHODES is a professor of language, literacy, and culture and the associate dean of teacher education at the University of Colorado at Denver. Her books include Readers and Writers with a Difference (with Curt Dudley-Marling), Windows into Literacy: Assessing Learners K-8 (with Nancy Shanklin, 1993) and Literacy Assessment: A Handbook of Instruments (1993), all published by Heinemann.
