Item description from seller

Good+. First American Edition. Published by Longmans, Green & Company, NY, 1896. Binding of red cloth with black, green decoration to the front board & gold lettering . 19 B&W plates. 293 pages, plus lengthy Longmans catalog. The story, described by the author, best known for his King Solomon's Mines, as "a tale of victorious faith." The story begins on a Sunday afternoon in an English church, but most of the story is set in Africa, and the adventure is a religious question: Is there any power left in Jesus' promise, that bsically whoever believs shall do my works and ask for my help and get it.
