Young adult reprint anthology: author's include Phillip Pullman, Roald Dahl, Russell Hoban, John Wyndham, Ray Bradbury and Manly Wade Wellman. The published edition has generic cover art showing a wizard's hat, wand and spell-book: the fourth Harry Potter book had been released a year before and Harry Potter mania was everywhere (and this artwork would certainly have fed into that reading frenzy). This copy comes with another copy of the book, but with different dustjacket cover art that was rejected and not used by the publisher: this artwork is much more dark and sinister (though admittedly not great art) showing a young boy in the foreground with sinister hooded monk-type figures behind, and behind them a 'haunted' castle and crescent moon. Both dustjacket illustrations are by Anthony Wootten. Fine copy in a fine dustjacket.
