About this Item
New York: Albert & Charles Boni, 1930. 8vo., [1]-162 pp., title-page printed in black and orange. Original full gray cloth lettered in gilt, with vignette figure of a seated woman stamped in red to the upper board, original gray dust jacket printed in red, top edge red. Dust jacket has some minor chips at edges, faint damp stain to both jacket and corresponding parts of the cloth, otherwise internally a very good copy. Gift inscription by the author to the title-page, "For Doris Flagg, with the regard of Thorton Wilder. Chicago, December 1934." § First edition. The Woman of Andros received mixed reviews in its time, confusing critics who wondered why Wilder was not writing in response to his own time, like so many of his contemporaries.
