This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of an early edition of Swift's works. Volume IV only of a larger set. This volume contains miscellaneous writings, including one of his most famous satirical essays: A Modest Proposal." Full leather binding of smooth calf; five raised bands ruled in gilt; red compartment on the spine, ruled and titled in gilt as "Swift's works; the edges of the boards are decorated with gilt as well. Clean text; 236 pages. Bumped, but not cracked as most 18th-century books seem to be; The spine has darkened and the number "4" is rubbed. A sound copy that presents very nicely.
