About this Item
xii, 224 pages. 195x135mm. Two tone dark cloth spine and upper cover lettered gilt. Top edge gilt with other edges uncut. This copy with the imprint of Samuel French at bottom of spine. *The author describes himself "as an actor of many years experience", and a friend of the late Wilkie Collins. In the chapter titled 'Qualities required to write a Play', he states that "Play-making may not be one of the exact sciences, but it is more nearly allied to them than appears at first sight. It can be fairly described as a sort of 'sympathy in mathematics', and it requires no mean intellectual powers to pursue with success."* A near fine copy without any damage, library stamps, inscriptions or other markings.
