Published in "The British Cities and Towns" series. ***Very good in blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles and rules to the spine [the book is also found with red cloth-covered boards with black titles and rules to the spine]. The boards are nice and clean and unmarked. No bumps or creasing. Corners sharp. The page block edges are foxed, and there is some internal foxing also, mainly to the first and last few pages. No inscriptions. No internal creasing. ***In a very good colour illustrated dustwrapper, which retains the original publisher's printed price of 8s. 6d. net at the top corner of the front flap. The dustwrapper is complete, with just the very lightest edge-wear and rubbing. There is some discolouration and light marks to the dustwrapper, especially to the spine. No tears. No chips. A prominent chairman of the firm from 1952 until 1974 was Brian Batsford, known as Brian Cook, who joined in 1928, and designed many of its dust-jackets.
