B & W drawings; Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; 213 pages; 1941 Grosset & Dunlap. HC/DJ. 1st edition, early printing. Illustrated by Paul Laune. Original jacket advertising this as the sole Al Avery title in Grosset & Dunlap's Air Combat Stories series. Soundly bound in patterned green composite boards with pictorial title design in blue. Gift inscription penned to pictorial front endpage. Frontis by Laune on plain paper. No wartime notice. Page 55/56 has a 2 inch long chip from the front edge but without loss to text. Short closed tear to the foot of the title page. Color pictorial dust jacket bright and clean with light rubbing and a chip and a pair of short closed tears to edges. VG-/VG.
